Operational MetOc

Meteorologists and oceanographers work with various models and analyze data to understand the impact of weather and different information sources on planned events. Meteorologists examine atmospheric mesoscale forecast products as they seek to automate the tools for forecasters to evaluate model predictions. Ensemble models aid them in making detailed weather forecasting. Oceanographers analyze ocean data. This data can come from sensors mounted on underwater gliders. All of these projects deal with managing the uncertainty in predictions and forecasting. The expertise gained is coupled with user and task analyses to arrive at products that assist users in more effective decision making.
